The reputable vendors are, and will say so with HIPAA and SOC 2 documentation and a business associate agreement. Voice-agent vendors handle recorded calls containing protected health information and should be able to describe their retention and access policies. The questions worth asking: Is there a signed BAA? Where is data stored and for how long? Who at the vendor can access patient records, and is access logged? For voice agents, are call recordings retained, and can they be deleted on request? None of these are unusual requests, and a vendor that hesitates on any of them is telling you something.
